He passed away unexpectedly at the age of 73. The Member of Parliament passed away on Friday morning, 7th January 2022 in his flat and he took his last breath in Birmingham as stated by his family. After his demise news appeared online everyone starts paying tribute and are keen to know the cause of his sudden demise. Many websites are claiming that he passed due to natural causes.

Who was Jack Dromey?

MPs from throughout the political spectrum paid tribute to the MP for Birmingham Erdington and offered their condolences to his wife, the ex-Labour deputy leader Harriet Harman. His family stated that “He was a much-loved husband, grandfather, and father and he will surely be highly missed.”

His son Joe wrote on Twitter which reads that “Our dad-Jack passed away unexpectedly today. We loved him so, so much. Rest In Peace, big and beloved man.”

Dromey was a former trade unionist and an MP since the year 2010, was deputed as shadow minister for immigration last year. He previously held shadow cabinet briefs for policing and housing, among other roles. On Thursday, Dromey contributed to a Westminster Hall debate on the resettlement scheme for Afghan citizens.

Jack Dromey Death Cause

He stated that “Our country has an honoured and proud history of providing safe heaven to that runaway persecution. Any watering down of the resettlement scheme would be opposite to our most fundamental values of honesty, fairness, and decency.”

Before his election to parliament, he was the deputy general secretary of the Transport and General Workers’ Union (TGWU) and a Labour party treasurer.

Keir Starmer, The Labour leader stated that “Jack was identified for his determination to stand up for his constituents and he was highly respected and warmly regarded throughout parliament. My deep thoughts and those of the entire Labour Movember are with Harriet, their children and also with all those who knew him and loved Jack.”

Lindsay Hoyle, the speaker of the House of Commons, stated that “We are all in disbelief that the life force that was Jack Dromey has passed away. This is another sad day for the house and a bad beginning of the year. He was a great person who was down to earth, always positive and always looking to give support and save jobs. At his heart he was a kind and devoted, father, husband and grandfather, so all our deep thoughts go to Harriet and the rest of the family at this very heartbroken at this time.”
