A devastating piece of news is coming forward. A young student-athlete named Micah Pietila-Wiggs has died after meeting with a tragic car crash. Yes, as per reports, the 21-year-old athlete had died on Saturday morning, January 22, 2022, after he was involved in a car crash. Now, the South Bay is condoling his death and is calling the accident unfortunate as it snatched such a young athlete when he could have achieved milestones. Micah Pietila loved ones are paying him tributes while his teammates and mentors are also expressing sadness on his sudden demise.

It has been reported that Micah Pietila-Wiggs was travelling on Interstate 5 south when he lost control of his pickup truck. Well, it resulted in the young player’s truck crashing into a concrete barrier towards the Northside of San Ysidro Port of Entry. According to the San Diego Medical Examiner, Micah was the only person in the vehicle when the accident took place. After the news came to the light, the league went ahead to release a somber statement on social media on Sunday where they said that Micah was a crucial part of the Eastlake Little League (ELL) World Series held in 2013.

The league further said that the young athlete received accolades for his academic performance and his athleticism throughout high school. ELL had announced that the people who want to pay him tributes can visit the trophy case that has been opened for that purpose only. After completing his education from high school, Wiggs had been attending the University of New Mexico where during the spring 2019 season, he played baseball. As the news spread online, the officers have begun their investigation and have been trying to find out the cause of the accident which is unknown at this time.

The head baseball coach at Eastlake High, David Gallegos, has also expressed his sadness as he has issued a statement saying Micah Pietila was not just a great athlete or kid but was also a great human being. He added that his passing has to be the saddest news anyone can receive ever. David continued that Micah had been a part of the Chula Vista baseball ever since he played the sports in his college. He said that Pietila-Wiggs treated everyone equally and added that he used to leave a great impact on anyone he played with. Our prayers and thoughts go out to his family and friends as well.
