Padma Padma Shri Baba Iqbal Singh Passed Away at 95, Family

One of the well-known Indian socio-spiritual leaders of the Sikh Community, Iqbal Singh sadly passed away at the age of 95. He was considered to be one of the most influential Sikhs in the world. Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi tweeted the passing of Iqbal Singh and expressed his deep condolence.

According to the sources, Shri Baba Iqbal Singh took his last breath at Baru Sahib in Sirnaur District of Himachal Pradesh (HP) on Saturday, January 29, 2022. He was the well-known Sikh of the community and was respected by millions of people.

He was awarded the Sikh Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016. Along with this, he was bestowed with Shiromani Panth Rattan in 2018 by Takht Sri Harmandir Ji. In 2022, he was conferred with Padma Shri by the Government of India for his contributions in the community of social work.

Baba Iqbal Singh Ji gave his life to the community and worked for the nation. He was the president of Kalgidhar Society/Trust and Chancellor of Eternal University, run under the Baru Sahib Organization headquartered at Baru Sahib.

From the media team of Baru Sahib, Jaspreet Singh told that Baba Ji was ill for the past few times and has also been hospitalized at a private hospital for the last one month. He was recently discharged from the hospital reached Baru Sahib on this Friday and took his last breath on Saturday. Now, the cremation of Baba Ji will be held at Baru Sahib between 1 PM to 2 PM on Sunday, January 29, 2021.

Baba Iqbal Singh Ji was born on May 1, 1926 in Bharyal Lehri, Punjab. He was born to Sanwal Singh and Gulab Kaur. He was fascinated by the lives of Dhruva and Bhakta Prahlada on the hand and Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh. Later, when he reached to the 6th grade, he was touched by Sanghamitta and Mahinda, who was a daughter and son of King Ashoka.

Baba Iqbal Singh took his bachelor of Science in Agriculture in 1949 from Lyallpur. He met Tej Singh Ji and Attar Singh in Pakitan and was influenced by their teaching. He also joined the Himachal Government. He founded and registered The Kalgidhar Trust and the other one was The Kalgidhar Society.

He was also passionate for the books like Sikh Sidhant, Sikh Faith, Tribute to Saint Teja Singh, and Turban- The Pride and Honoour of India. He will be always remembered by his family and society for his contribution to the nation.
