Kishore Mohanty dead, BJD MLA died at 64 – cause of death: May his soul rest in peace and his family gets strength to heal. We are deeply saddened and heart broken to hear about the sudden demise of MLA Shri Kishore Mohanty.
BJD MLA and former Speaker Kishore Mohanty passed away this evening. Mohanty, the MLA of the Brajrajnagar parliamentary constituency, died while receiving treatment in a private hospital in Jharsuguda. He is 64 years old.
Mohanty suffered a heart attack early the next day and was subsequently taken to the hospital in Jharsuguda.
In the 2019 election, Mohanty was elected from the Brajrajnagar assembly constituency of the BJD ticket and defeated the BJP candidate Radha Rani Panda.
Mohanty served as the Speaker of the State Assembly in 2007-09. He was the chief whip of the government in 2004-07.
He was elected to the State Assembly thrice from Jharsuguda Assembly seat.
He served as the Chairman of the Western Odisha State Development Commission (WODC) from 2014 to 2019.
